SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Staying at the Chalet Les Amis will enable you to discover our natural heritage at the Vanoise national park and our cultural heritage with the charm of our authentic Savoie mountain villages in the Tarentaise area, remarkably preserved from the many activities that take place in the surroundings.
VANOISE NATIONAL PARK
See the Vanoise national park website
The Chalet Les Amis is the perfect place for observing the mountain flora and fauna present in the grandiose landscapes of the Vanoise national park, an area of exceptional natural beauty and an emblem of mountain preservation since its creation in 1963.
The oldest of the French national parks, Vanoise national park contains over a hundred summits with altitudes of more than 3,000 m, including the Grande Casse. The wild fauna there changes with the seasons : ibex, chamois, marmots, various species of hare, royal eagles, bearded vultures, black grouse… alongside an immense variety of flora: génépis, Alpine dwarf orchids, orange lilies, sedge, Piedmont primroses, genetian violet. Prairies, lakes and forests are dominated by the stunning grasslands and glaciers. A rich cultural heritage exists in the region, with the agropastoral life, rock engravings, architecture, ‘pierres-fortes’ stones, baroque buildings and folk art of the upper valleys.
There are over 1,250 km² of exceptional natural environment for you to discover.
THE HIKERS TRAIL GR5
The Chalet Les Amis is located along the GR5 Vanoise hiking trail
The GR5 links the North sea to the Mediterranean, running through 2,600 km of trail through to Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and France, all the way down to Nice. The Village de Moulin is the first that travellers come across on the Beaufortin massif and the G25 passes by the Chalet les Amis, joining up with Nancroix along the Sentier de Muletier. The next part of the trail goes through the Vanoise national park, a 4-hour walk through the alpine pastures with its refuges along the way to the Palet mountain pass, the entrance to Tignes.
FAMILY WALKS AND HIKES
You can leave from the chalet on a number of family walks and hikes towards the Vanoise park, ‘les Esserts’, the Vernettes chapel, a baroque work-of-art, the Retz farm with its farm produce for sale, and much more. The Tourism office has a detailed map of walks and hikes available.
